The DMK22 includes a working final round bolt hold in addition to the ability to use modified 10/22 type barrels. It’s built around a unique bolt catch and magazine. Except for this evident difference, the DMK22 lower is very similar to mil-spec lowers.

While the bottom receiver lacks a through hole, it does include threads for the buffer tube to be screwed in. I bought a KNS Precision rail adapter to run an MPX/MCX style stock instead of a vestigial buffer tube.
This allows me to use the DMK22 with a folding stock. The DMK22 handguard is far from perfect. Fortunately, it’s linked to a mil-spec upper, so you can swap it out for your favorite handguard with ease. I disliked the handguard because it requires proprietary rails to connect attachments, which the rifle lacked.

Another intriguing characteristic of the DMK22 is that it can feed ammo from three separate magazines. You can also use Black Dog Machine magazines or Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 magazines instead of DMK22 mags. However, utilizing these other magazines disables the bolt hold feature for the last bullet. With the normal DMK22, Kriss also delivered its DMK22 LVOA Alpine. Since KRISS USA licensed the design from WarSport, I was interested in the DMK22 LVOA.
However, I was unhappy that the DMK22 LVOA, unlike their Krytac licensed Airsoft LVOA rifle, lacks the LVOA marks. Both the DMK22 and the LVOA come with the same muzzle device. It’s more for aesthetic purposes.

The basic DMK22 retails for $699, while the DMK22 LVOA retails for $799. For a.22LR AR, that’s a little high. For less money, you can acquire an M&P 15-22, but those come with proprietary magazines and polymer receivers. While the M&P 15-22 is a blast to shoot, the DMK22 is fundamentally an AR-15. It’s a modular system.
If you utilize the KNS Precision adapter, you may attach any AR-15 compatible handguard to the DMK22 upper, use any mil-spec compatible trigger, and use Picatinny compatible stocks like the MPX stocks.
